Families In Action for Quality Education

Families In Action for Quality Education (FIA) was founded in March 2019 by East Oakland school leaders and families in response to growing local and statewide political threats to accessing quality public schools. Today, FIA brings district and charter school communities together to build strategy and campaigns. FIA’s work has four pillars: build the leadership capacity of parents, youth, educators and school board members; fight for underserved students to gain access to quality school experiences; champion a vision for high-quality schools for ALL students, no matter if they attend district or charter schools; and build coalitions and work to connect and engage a range of Oakland educators.
