Visit YBCA

YBCA is located in the heart of San Francisco’s SOMA neighborhood, across the street from SFMOMA and the Moscone Convention Center. The main entrance to our galleries and forum event space is at 701 Mission Street. The main entrance to our theater is 700 Howard Street.

YBCA is open Wednesday–Sunday, 11–5pm.

Entry to YBCA Galleries is free on Wednesdays and second Sundays.

Box Office Services

YBCA’s Visitor Services desk is located in the Grand Lobby of the Gallery & Forum Building.

Tickets to all YBCA-curated programs may be purchased from the Visitor Services desk, which also serves as the box office. Visitor Services’ hours coincide with gallery hours, as well as those of scheduled performances, film screenings, and special events.

For events taking place in the Blue Shield of California Theater at YBCA, the theater box office in the lobby of 700 Howard Street opens 60 minutes prior to the scheduled program. At all other times, please visit the Visitor Services desk in the Gallery & Forum building for assistance.

Accessibility

  • Wheelchairs are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please see the Info Desk for details.
  • We offer large print guides for exhibitions.
  • Sign language interpretation for YBCA programs is available with 3 weeks notice.
  • Admission is free for one caregiver accompanying a visitor with accessibility needs.
  • We allow breastfeeding and bottle-feeding in all public spaces.
  • Service animals are welcome.
  • Assistive listening devices are available for all amplified performances.
  • All YBCA public entrances are accessible. At the Theater, both the North and South doors have electric push-button doors. At the Gallery Forum Building, both the 701 Mission St and Garden Esplanade entrances have electric push-button doors.
  • Elevators service both buildings.
  • Accessible seating is available in both the Theater and Forum for events and performances. When purchasing tickets for performances with assigned seating, please select one of the designated seats.
