    San Francisco Performances in association with YBCA presents: Dance is a historic collaboration between three of the 20th centuries’ art super stars — choreographer Lucinda Childs, composer Philip Glass and visual artist Sol LeWitt.     Named one of Dance Magazine's "25 to Watch" in 2010, the Bay Area's Company C Contemporary Ballet's eclectic and electrifying style redefines ballet for a new generation with its dynamic and adventurous repertoire. Quirky, irreverent, delicious and dark ballets welcome the spring season featuring two world premieres: Ballet Noir by Artistic Director Charles Anderson, and Slip-Ring by Jodie Gates. The program also includes the return of two popular ballets: Patrick Corbin's Psychedelic Six-pack and Twyla Tharp's Surfer at the River Styx.

    Celebrating their shared history, Lavay Smith brings a bracing, bluesy jolt of energy to the jazz and country crossroads with Crazy In Love With Patsy Cline, a tribute to the vocal icon featuring pedal steel virtuoso Bobby Black and members of Smith’s Red Hot Skillet Lickers. With her big, luscious voice and sassy stage presence, Smith infuses sultry swing into Cline’s timeless tales of woe.

    Legendary composer Philip Glass will perform a solo recital of classic works from the period around Lucinda Childs' minimalist masterpiece Dance. The program includes Mad Rush—originally composed for organ in 1980. Besides other pieces he wrote during the Dance era, Glass will also play a selection from his Etudes.
