Song Dong's large–scale installation comprised of items that his mother and grandmother collected over a period of five decades. It follows the Chinese concept of wu jin qi yong or "waste not," as a prerequisite for survival.
Inspired by artist Song Dong’s investigations of family, consumerism, and the small meditative moments that punctuate an ordinary life, Daily Lives is a group exhibition borne out of a collaboration between YBCA and the Chinese Cultural Center.

San Francisco Perfromances presents The James C. Hormel and Michael P. Nguyen Dance Series featuring Paul Taylor Dance Company
At the age of 80, Paul Taylor is on an artistic roll and SFP is honored to have a long and continuing relationship with the legendary choreographer and his Company, who consider San Francisco a second home. Over the years, this special bond has been marked by numerous West Coast and Bay Area premieres of Taylor's extraordinary works. Now, the Company returns after a year's hiatus with a program of early favorites like Orbs 1 & 2, and the West Coast premiere of the sleek Brief Encounters, about which the New York Times said: 'the dancers, beautifully adult and near naked…passed through transient scenes of sexual desire, emotional perplexity and more.'
In the Land of the Free... presents the Angola 3's (Herman Wallace, Albert Woodfox and Robert King) ongoing story as dramatic events continue to unfold.
