Margo Hall

2020 YBCA 100 Honoree

Margo Hall is an award winning actor, director, playwright, and educator. A leading performer and director for over 30 years, she was awarded the 2018 Jerry Friedman Lifetime Achievement Award by the San Francisco Theatre Critics Circle, and recently appointed the new Artistic Director of the Lorraine Hansberry Theater of San Francisco. Film credits include BLINDSPOTTING with Daveed Diggs and Netflix film All Day and A Night. A founding member of multicultural theater company Campo Santo in San Francisco, she has worked on new plays with artists such as Naomi Iizuka, Jessica Hagedorn, Phillip Kan Gotanda, Ntozake Shange, and Octavio Solis. Writing credits include The People’s Temple with Leigh Fondakowski, and her autobiographical musical, BeBop Baby, A Musical Memoir, original music by Marcus Shelby. Margo serves on the Theater Bay Area and The Oakland Theater Project boards, and as a theater professor at UC Berkeley and Chabot College.
