Visual artist
Alyssa Aviles is a visual artist and arts educator. A printmaker by trade, she embodies the knowledge of the printmaker across the different mediums in which she works. Viewing the printmaker as both an alchemist and a machine, Aviles becomes an instrument ingenerating her reality. Her work reimagines the traditional Chicano styles of illustration and symbolism, exploring themes of liminality, mysticism, identity, ancestry, and the feminine from the lens of the Latinx experience. Aviles graduated with a BFA in Printmaking from Massachusetts College of Art and Design and is currently based in San Francisco, CA.
