Chocolate Babies x T Blockers: Queer Vigilantes

No one is going to save us—except us. Whether the enemy is crooked politicians or an ancient TERF-y parasite, gender-queer vigilantes will be there to save the day. In Chocolate Babies (1996) and T Blockers (2023), Stephen Winter and Alice Maio Mackay grapple with what it means to be left alone to fight the powers that be.

Chocolate Babies follows a group of Black, queer, New Yorkers planning an attack on conservative and homophobic politicians during the AIDS crisis. In T Blockers, a trans filmmaker and her teen friends fight against a brain-altering parasite that is wreaking havoc on her small Australian town. With no resources but their own community, these two vigilante groups stick it to the man—and, no, DON’T expect them to fight fair.
