Writer for Histories of Labor/Animated Resistance film, Sarah Haley is Associate Professor of African American Studies and Gender Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and the Associate Director of the Center for the Study of Women. Haley’s research interests are at the intersection of prison studies, nineteenth and twentieth-century African American history, women’s and gender history, labor studies, black feminism, and feminist theories of violence. She is the author of the award-winning book No Mercy Here: Gender, Punishment, and the Making of Jim Crow Modernity.
