San Francisco native, Linda Davenport (b. 1952) Davenport is known for her organic, conical textile works, but also creates quilts, dolls, and other similar artwork.
Davenport deftly stitches and manipulates jute, thread, fabric, and embroidery floss into soft sculptural forms. Davenport’s dexterous hands also serve as her chief mode of communication since she does not speak, but instead engages through her freeform textiles.
Davenport joined the Creativity Explored studio in 1983 when CE first opened. In addition to being included in numerous group exhibitions at Creativity Explored, Davenport’s work was selected for a two-person exhibition titled DOTS & DASHES: Another Morse Code in 2015 with fellow artist Richard Wright. Her work also was featured in I Have Never Taken the Time to Really Look, at Accident and Artifact, San Francisco, CA in 2013.
