Leora “Lee” Kava is a poet, teacher, and musician of Tongan descent who received her PhD in creative writing from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. She is the founder of the Pacific Verse project, a community-based workshop series where participants create original poetry and music using Indigenous Pacific languages. She is an Assistant Professor of Critical Pacific Islands and Oceania Studies at San Francisco State University.
