Gidnasty, born Gideon Chiwinke Mekwunye, is a dynamic dancer, educator, and cultural ambassador rooted in Oakland, California. His dance journey began at Bret Harte Middle School, where he was introduced to movement by the Southeast Asian community. Drawing from his Nigerian heritage and the rich dance culture of Oakland, Gidnasty developed a unique style that honors his mentors and community. 

As a member of the Oakland Originalz crew, Gidnasty has been instrumental in promoting traditional B-boying, teaching its foundations, history, and styles to young dancers across the Bay Area. His commitment to cultural exchange led him to Ghana, where he taught dance classes, further bridging communities through movement.  

Gidnasty’s talent has been showcased in various dance battles and events, including the King of TURFinc competitions. His performances are celebrated for their innovation and deep cultural resonance, making him a prominent figure in the dance community.
