Dorothy Cheung is a writer and artist currently based in Hong Kong. Inspired by her background in gender studies and community art, her works explore ideas of identity and home through a double perspective—personal and political, memory and forgetfulness. She embarked on the filmmaking journey by co-writing the screenplay for Pseudo Secular (2016), and has since written and directed films that have screened at Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art, EYE Filmmuseum, and the Korzo Theater, and selected for festivals including Seoul International Women’s Film Festival, South Taiwan Film Festival, Queer Lisboa, and Hong Kong Independent Film Festival. Her latest work, Home, and a Distant Archive (2019), will premiere at the 49th International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2020.
