Lukas Brekke-Miesner is a writer and youth advocate hailing from East Oakland, CA. He is the Executive Director of Oakland Kids First, an organization that develops student leaders to positively transform school culture and lead organizing campaigns to increase equity in Oakland public schools. He is also the founder and Editor-In-Chief of the now-defunct Oakland arts & community blog 38thnotes.com, a published freelance writer, and author of a forthcoming collection of poetry entitled Born & Razed: Oakland In Verse. He is featured in the documentary First Friday and is a previous winner of the Oakland Soul award at the annual Oakland Indie Awards.
