Healing and Decolonizing Body as Land Through Mythical Figures and Ritual Practice
Connect/Reflect/Enact is a multi-part project integrating body knowledge and art creation led by artist Dohee Lee. Participants are invited to hold space for deep reflection on wounds suffered and inflicted through systemic oppression in the U.S. and our homelands.
This program will explore individual and collective community healing rituals. Through a creative art process, Lee will guide participants to reflect and reconnect to our myths and mythical figures. By engaging with stories from our ancestral homelands and cultures, this workshop hopes to bridge social, political, and climate justice while learning how to be good guests and settlers of the land on which we are living.
Corrina Gould, co-founder of the Sogorea Te Land Trust, will join virtually for a portion of the program. Visual artist Adrián Arias will paint visual notes of the ritual practice.
Rituals created during the workshop will contribute to site-specific performances planned for Summer 2023.
