Maw Shein Win is a Burmese American poet, organizer, editor, and educator. She is the author of two poetry chapbooks Ruins of a Glittering Palace and Score and Bone, and the full-length collection Invisible Gifts, Poems. Win is the inaugural poet laureate of El Cerrito, California. Her full-length poetry collection Storage Unit for the Spirit House (Omnidawn) was longlisted for the 2021 PEN America Open Book Award, nominated for a Northern California Book Award for Poetry, and shortlisted for the Golden Poppy Award for Poetry. She often collaborates with visual artists, musicians, and other writers and was an Arts Research Center Poetry Fellow at UC Berkeley. Win’s Process Note Series on periodicities : a journal of poetry and poetics features poets and their process. She teaches in the MFA Program in Writing at the University of San Francisco and organizes literary and art events in the SF Bay Area.
