Presented by YBCA Creative Corps artist Kristian Stovall, The American Heiress: Revelations follows the story of an African American woman who has reconnected to her family tree and learned that her colored ancestors weren’t from Africa at all, but were Aboriginal American Royalty. Through this discovery, the artist gained new perspective on American history.

The American Heiress is a show infused with song and dance. The performance weaves historical documentation, legislation, oral history, and clips from current events and movies while sharing the incredible stories of the artist’s ancestors like The Indian Kings and Queens of Virginia, the Hildebrands of the Trail of Tears and the Founders of Pocahontas, Arkansas. These tales shed light on the forgotten past of Black Americans worldwide. With grace and gusto, The American Heiress tackles topics like identity, race, colonization, and breaking free from the chains of the past, all while sparking a journey towards unity and enlightenment.
