SF Urban Film Fest 2021

SF Urban Film Fest   |

February 14–21, 2021

YBCA artists-in-residence SF Urban Film Fest launch their seventh annual and first ever virtual film festival on February 14-21, 2021. This year’s festival, Wisdom Lives In Places, explores enduring injustices and environmental destruction alongside the resilience of neighborhoods and the communities that fill them. Featuring films and panel discussions around civic engagement with urban issues, SFUFF’s 2021 festival dives deeply into narratives of ruin, resistance, and renewal.

In addition to SFUFF’s digital programming, YBCA and SFUFF have teamed up to present MOURNING IS AN ACT OF LOVE, an in-person experience of the 2021 film festival to the public face of YBCA’s buildings through photography, video, glass painting, poetry, and large-scale projections. The artists selected for this physical installation engage with non-traditional forms of documentary by exploring space, performance, and participatory practice to tell stories.

Wisdom Lives in Places

The SF Urban Film Fest is proud to announce its lineup of films, panels, workshops and special events for the 7th Annual SF Urban Film Fest, Wisdom Lives in Places, taking place February 14-21, 2021. Amidst our new reality, the need to address our most pressing urban issues is more necessary than ever before. This year our programming suggests the way forward is to honor the wisdom that’s been here, long before 2020, from folks who have been resilient in the face of adversity, showing us how not only to survive but to thrive.
