Create art inspired by the artists of Bay Area Now 9 in this series of stand-alone, drop-in art workshops for participants of all ages. Materials will be provided, and participants will be able to take their artwork home as a souvenir. Each workshop will feature a different artist from the BAN9 exhibition and explore the artist’s practice and art-making methods.
On Wednesday, April 10, inspired by the yōkai (supernatural beings and spirits) of Japanese folklore, participants will make their own yōkai out of model magic. This workshop is inspired by the work of BAN9 artist Masako Miki, and her bright, fantastical soft sculptures and watercolors drawn from Japanese traditions.
