The Rocky Horror Show is a haven for people of all stripes to be their most
brilliant, strange, honest, fabulous, and terrifying selves. It’s been blowing minds and
opening hearts in San Francisco and around the world for over 40 years and I am – yes
– shivering with antici….pation –  to assemble a community of Bay Area performers who
will take over the Geary in 2020 to collaborate on a musical blowout that could only
happen in and for San Francisco. Come as you are and do the thing you love to do. If
you’re nervous about singing, lip sync. If you want to wear a wig, wear three.

What to Prepare

Please prepare a short song of your choice that you love to sing (under 2 minutes long).

Feel free to sing any style of music that you LOVE to rock out to (pop, gospel, rap, jazz, rock, R&B, musical theater, etc). We want to see YOU at your best having the time of your life, so have fun with it!

Please bring sheet music for your short song. We will have a great pianist to accompany you.

You are also welcome to sing a cappella or with a track. We ask that tracks be easily played from an iPhone or device that can be plugged into a speaker with an aux cable.

If you play piano or guitar and want to accompany yourself, that’s okay too.

Please also bring a recent printed picture of yourself (it doesn’t need to be a professional headshot) and a short resume detailing your experience as a performer (if you have one).

Halloween costumes are encouraged but not mandatory.

This is a PAID, FULL-TIME commitment. You must be available for all rehearsals and performances if you are cast in the production.

Rehearsals will take place March 17th – April 22nd.
Performances will take place April 23rd – May 17th (with a possible extension through
May 24th ).

The Rocky Horror Show will be produced as part of A.C.T.’s mainstage season and will be performed in our historic 1000-seat Geary Theater in Union Square in San Francisco.

The Show

On a dark and stormy night, Brad and Janet get a flat tire . . . So begins our party at The Geary Theater. Tony Award–nominated director-choreographer Sam Pinkleton (Soft Power and Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812) reimagines this swirling, sci-fi world for 2020 San Francisco.

Before this cross-dressing classic was ever a midnight movie at The Strand, Richard O’Brien’s Dr. Frank-N-Furter, Magenta, and Riff Raff started life as a smash rock musical. Experience The Geary as never before in this outrageous celebration of sex, drag, rock’n’roll, and being who you really are. In a dazzling mix of sequins and fishnet stockings, “Let’s do the Time Warp again!”

Video Auditions

If you can’t audition in-person but are interested in the production, you are welcome to submit a video audition. For video auditions, record a brief introduction including your name and some fun things about you, as well as your song of choice (under 2 minutes).

Upload your video to YouTube or Vimeo as a shareable link. Please make sure the link is viewable to “Anyone with the link” and send to [email protected] no later than Monday, October 28th at 12pm.
