Join us for the YBCA 10’s monthly interactive studio hours. Learn about their prototype designs and connect with the artists in person.
Members of the 10 will host feedback sessions and grounding rituals, and invite you to be a part of their evolving ideas in our physical space.
Thursday, April 14 | 12–6 PM & Friday, April 15 | 2–8 PM
Hasain Rasheed will be at YBCA interviewing first and second-generation immigrant community members, local or visiting. He will also be taking tintype portraits for people to take home at a later date. These interviews and portraits inform his prototype Too Experienced to be Taken for a Stroll, which explores immigrant experiences. We invite you to come to see the process.
Friday, April 15 | 2:30–4 PM
Come by for a one-on-one tarot card reading with Dorothy R. Santos, whose prototype Mahiwagang Libros (Magical Books) is a set of four books based on the four directions and elements. Each book contains loose pages of spells, recipes, incantations, and images that visitors are welcome to take to build their own spellbook.
Saturday, April 16 | 2–2:45 PM
Join Nikiko Masumoto and Dorothy R. Santos as they lead us to create a living planter and conjure our magical selves! Come as you are and take home a plant and spell of your making!.
Kokedama is an ornamental plant covered in decorative moss. Supplies may vary. Hosted in the Courtyard of YBCA.
