Learn cueca, the national dance of Bolivia—a traditional partner dance performed with handkerchiefs that depicts the courtship of lovers. Join instructor Isidro Fajardo, artistic director of Bolivia Corazón de América, in this class for all ages and levels to experience the various styles of cueca and learn more about the history and meaning of the art form.

Isidro Fajardo

Bolivia Corazón de América (BCA) was founded in 2000 by Susana Salina, aimed at teaching audiences about Bolivia’s culture and traditions through dance. BCA focuses on Bolivia’s autochthonous, ancient, and rare forms of dance. Artistic director Isidro Fajardo joined Bolivia Corazón de América in 2005, and has led performance tours both around the Bay Area and internationally.
