Join us for the celebration and unveiling of YBCA’s Community Public Art on Saturday, August 10, 2024, 2-3:30pm. Meet YBCA’s community partners and their selected artists who created artwork for three public art sites at the YBCA campus.
Tickets: Free and open to the public.
Please meet at the Vestibule Banner (between YBCA’s gallery building and the Blue Shield of California Theater; near the Crepe Myrtle Gardens at the intersection of Minna Street and 3rd Street).
2 PM: Meet at the Vestibule Banner (between YBCA’s gallery building and the Blue Shield of California Theater).
2-2:15 PM: Welcome & acknowledgements by Manager of Public & Educational Programs, Rea Lynn de Guzman. At site of first artwork, Ciriaco Sayoc’s SOMA Mahal Kita, Rea will read a short statement from the artist.
2:15-2:45 PM: Walk to the next site. Rea introduces artist Malaya Tuyay. Malaya presents mural What is Legacy without Liberation? Q&A.
2:45-3:15 PM: Walk to the next site. Rea introduces artist Michael Arcega. Michael presents public art When We Weave Waves. Q&A.
3:15 PM: Final acknowledgments.
