Rahsaan “New York” Thomas became a writer, journalist, filmmaker, podcaster, and the creator of the Empowerment Avenue program while incarcerated at San Quentin State Prison. He is best known as “New York” on the Pulitzer Prize finalist podcast, Ear Hustle. Now on parole, he seeks to use proximity to spark the creation of more opportunities for system-impacted people.
