Pratchaya Phinthong is concerned with questions surrounding human agency exploring social, economic and geopolitical circumstances. His work takes as its subject matter such topics as the exploitation of seasonal Thai workers in Sweden to the spread of deadly diseases on the continent of Africa. Constructing his projects as a dialogue between himself and others, he seeks to allow viewers a window into his travels. Phinthong’s work has been exhibited at dOCUMENTA 13, Kassel, Germany (2012) Galleria d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, Bergamo, Italy (2011), and the Centre d’Art Contemporarain, Bretigny (2010). Phinthong has also participated in the New Museum Triennial (2012) and the Singapore Biennale (2006).
