The Swiss artists Peter Fischli and David Weiss began collaborating in 1979, producing installations, photographs, and sculptures that exploited the found object and highlighted the banalities of life, placing emphasis on the intersection of macrocosmic and microcosmic occurrences. Their best-known collaboration, The Way Things Go, premiered at dOCUMENTA 8 in Kassel, Germany (1987) and signified a two-year process of trial and error operations. Recent solo exhibitions of Fischli/Weiss have been at Matthew Marks Galleries, New York (2014), the Museum of Modern Art, New York (2014), Serpentine Gallery, London (2013), Kunsthalle Budapest (2012), and the Tate Modern, London (2007).
