Maria Blaisse is an interdisciplinary designer and materials innovator whose practice spans the fields of architecture, fashion, mathematics, engineering, sculpture, poetry, and dance. Her work has been shown in Kyoto, Paris, Perth, London, New York, and Amsterdam, among others. A comprehensive retrospective of her career, The Emergence of Form, was exhibited in 2014 in the Rijksmuseum Twente in Enschede (NL). Her book of the same title, The Emergence of Form (NAi010 Rotterdam), was nominated in 2014 by Filaf (Festival International des Livres d ‘Art et du Film) as one of the nine best art books worldwide. Blaisse regularly gives lectures and leads workshops, sharing her dynamic explorations of material, form and movement with students, professionals and the general public.
