Marga Gomez (she, her, they) is a GLAAD Award winning writer/performer of fifteen solo plays which have been presented nationally, Off-Broadway, internationally and in the Bay Area at the Marsh, New Conservatory Theatre Center, Brava Theater, Theater Rhinoceros, Playground, and the Magic Theater. Marga has been nominated for the 2026 SF Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Award for her performance in The Search For Signs of Intelligent Life (Aurora Theater, Berkeley, CA). Past acting credits include The Vagina Monologues with Rita Moreno and Vicki Lawrence and film and television appearances on the Netflix series Sense 8, HBO’s Tracey Takes On….,  and the Warner Brothers films Batman Forever and Sphere.

As a stand-up comedian, Gomez was a founding member of the legendary Latiné comedy ensemble Culture Clash. She is one of the nation’s first out lesbians in comedy getting her start in San Francisco’s LGBT cabarets Valencia Rose and Josie’s Cabaret. Marga has been honored numerous times by readers of San Francisco Bay Guardian/48 Hills and The Bay Area Reporter as “Best Bay Area Comedian.” In October 2025, the San Francisco Bay Times and the San Francisco Board of Supervisors named her one of the Bay Area’s “LGBTQ Latiné Leaders 2025.” Marga’s work has also been recognized and supported by the San Francisco Arts Council, the United States Artist Fellowship, and the Cultural Center for Innovation. She grew up in Manhattan, NY as the only child of a Cuban comedian and Puerto Rican dancer. Marga’s parents inspired several of her solo plays including her 2025 hit Spanish Stew.
