Lee Wai Kwan started her career as a journalist after her graduation from Hong Kong Baptist University, where she majored in Journalism and minored in Humanities, focusing on writing stories of marginalized communities, such as special educational needs (SEN) children, foreign domestic workers, and refugees. Since 2019, Lee has become an independent freelance journalist who writes for Ming Pao Weekly, Initium Media, and Hong Kong In-Media, with documentaries published on the video platform Next Film. Recently, she is focusing on reporting the ongoing protests in Hong Kong. She is also one of the finalists of Mind HK Media Awards 2019 which awards reporters for writing articles about mental health issues. Lee is now studying Anthropology at The Chinese University of Hong Kong for her master’s degree. She is active in literary writing and teaching creative-writing programs; and has received awards from the Youth Literary Awards.
