Kenya Pfister is the drag persona of Ken Harper. Ken is an enrolled member of the Cherokee Nation and a long time Two-Spirit and HIV community activist. Kenya is a member of the Brush Arbor Gurlz ( the first all-native drag troupe) and a member of SF’s House of Glitter drag house. An SF native, Ken grew up in the Richmond district and graduated from U.C. Berkeley, and has been a force locally and nationally to improve the lives of American Indians and LBGT people by enhancing the provision of culturally competent services to the American Indian and LBGTQI communities. Ken co-founded 3 local Native American organizations, The Bay Area American Indian Two-Spirits, Genentech Native Americans and The Cherokee Society of the Greater Area. Currently, Ken is working on his first cookbook about the Creole Portuguese food of Macao and is extending the reach of indigenous food sovereignty.
