Craig Calderwood is a self taught artist working with drawing and low Craft. Their work pushes against the expectations of their chosen materials, creating opaque narratives that explore desire, communities of otherness, and personal biography. They have exhibited internationally, notably at Oakland Museum of California and Transpallette-Centre D’Art in Bourge, France. Calderwood is a 2022 Eureka Fellow, 2019 SFMOMA SECA Finalist and the recipient of three IAC Grants from the San Francisco Arts Commission (SFAC). In 2024, Calderwood will complete a mural commission at SFO’s Terminal 1 with SFAC. In 2009, Calderwood briefly studied printmaking and life drawing at Fresno City College, but flunked out.
