Chris Fraser is an artist whose immersive installations and personal performances approach a direct experience of our optical environment. The camera is not treated as a device but a situation. Where light slips into dark, a picture is seen. These specters fill the air around us. We walk into to them, wear them, change them. Chris received his BA in history from the University of California, Davis and his MFA in studio art from Mills College. He is a recipient of the Jay DeFeo Prize and is currently a graduate fellow at the Headlands Center for the Arts. In the last years Fraser had exhibitions at The Performance Art Institute, VASF Gallery and Root Division.
