Billie’s seductive cyber afrofuturistic video and photo workwork blends millennial aesthetics, horror, fantasy, and asmr into unforeseen worlds to reveal beautifully mysterious truths that bite and soothe at the same time, pulling you inward towards the places you neglect. Billie (Laneya Billingsley) is an Oakland based (Texas raised) visual artist with a background in animation, theatre, stop motion and film. Billie has shown/screened work in LA, SF, OAKLAND, NEW YORK and TX as well as LONDON, IRELAND, & BERLIN– Spaces such as: ICA LONDON (group show screening) MOAD (SF group show), CASEMORE (SF group show) SWIM GALLERY(SF solo show), PART 2 (Muzae Sesay Oakland Group Show), SXSW (TX 2027), MOMA (SF Smartbomb), COAXIAL (LA group show) LEGION OF HONOR (SF Smartbomb) and TELEMATIC GALLERY (SF solo show) and has lent her eye in collaboration w/artists such as Toro Y Moi, Chaz Bear, Lara Sarkissian, Laur Geiger (frequent collaborator and collaborator on this years Haunt at YBCA), Spellling, Credit Electric and Shy Girl.
LAUR is a creative director and sculptural movement artist creating new spaces for experiential, process-based transformation. Their background hybridizes training in dance, intuitive healing, visual art, and fashion styling. In the Bay Area, they worked and performed with Korean shamanic artist Dohee Lee from 2014 – 2019. Beyond the bay, their solo dance work has been presented at The Garment District Arts Festival (NYC), Merde Show (Brooklyn), the Chashama 20th Anniversary in Times Square (NYC). Their film, Living Inheritance, directed by LAUR X BILLIE premiered at Roxie Theater (SF) September 2025 and was screened for SMARTBOMB: Waves of Knowing at SFMOMA, October, 2025. They creative directed and styled AROMA’s Smitten EP cover, Spring 2026, Solo Show, Rickshaw Stop (SF) Fall 2025, “Piss Off” music video, Fall 2024. Currently, they are the Visual-Spatial Dramaturg for Project Quantum Heart, play by Amy Grace Lam, supported by SFAC 2026, Gerbode Foundation Awardee, 2025, Rainin Awardee 2025.
