The Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company was born out of an eleven-year collaboration between Bill T. Jones and Arnie Zane (1948–1988), during which time they redefined the duet form and foreshadowed issues of identity and social commentary that would change the face of US dance. The company has performed worldwide in more than two hundred cities in forty countries on every major continent [every continent but Antarctica? (seems odd to classify continents as “major” versus “minor” 🙂 ] and is recognized as one of the most innovative and powerful forces in the dance and theater world. In 2013 YBCA hosted a thirty-year celebration of Jones’s career and trajectory with a new site-specific work /Time: Study I and A Rite, a collaboration with SITI Company.
