Lian Ladia

Lian Ladia is a curator and organizer. She is a featured curator and researcher for the work of Bay Area Filipino-American artist, Carlos Villa, at the National Gallery of Singapore for its presentation at the Singapore Biennale 2019 : Every Step In the Right Direction. She has curated exhibitions and organized public programs at the Jorge Vargas Museum (Manila), Stedelijk Museum (Amsterdam), de Appel (Amsterdam), BAMPFA (Berkeley), NTU CCA (Singapore), Lopez Memorial Museum and Library (Manila), BACC (Bangkok), ISCP (New York) and has presented talks on her research on “Minor Gestures” at San Art (Saigon), Substation (Singapore), and Green Papaya Art Projects (Manila). She acquired an MA Curatorial Studies at Bard College, New York with an Asian Cultural Council Fellowship and has received curatorial training from the De Appel Curatorial Programme in Amsterdam.

Apart from her curatorial work, Lian Ladia has been actively working within the public realm and with public art projects through community engagement, community planning and mobilization projects for an immigrant cultural district in San Francisco and SF based organization, SOMCAN (South of Market Community Action Network), focused on land use in the most tech-gentrified area in the City.

Lian Ladia also founded San Francisco apartment project space, yucca, an Alternative Exposure 13 awardee, with a short run artist book publication project called clamshell press.
