Michael Vass is a filmmaker and writer based in Montreal. He is the producer and co-writer of the award-winning documentary Cane Fire, as well as the director of several acclaimed short films, His work has screened widely at festivals, galleries, and other venues, including MoMA Doc Fortnight, TIFF, Hot Docs, ICA Philadelphia, National Gallery of Art, Brooklyn Academy of Music, MoMA PS1, and the Criterion Channel. He has written about film and art for publications such as Cinema Scope, Canadian Art, CineAction, and others.
