Tanya Wischerath is a San Francisco–born painter, muralist and printmaker. Rooted in her lived experience and queer community, her autobiographical work explores gender fluidity and identity through surreal, intimate imagery. A graduate of the Florence Angel Academy of Art, she has exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery (London), the de Young Open, and Haight Street Art Center. Her 2012 Clarion Alley mural honoring Trans sex worker activists received wide press coverage, and her painting By the Letter was acquired by the Bakersfield Museum of Art in 2024. Her murals appear throughout San Francisco’s Castro and Mission districts.
