Anson Cyr is an artist whose current practice is concerned with “the challenges of translation, the weight of empty nostalgia, and the violence of not knowing what has really been stolen from us.” Anson’s favorite Halloween costume dates to age 8 or 9, when he pulled one together at the last minute using a latex mask and his dad’s sherpa-lined leather coat. The urgent and improvisatory approach to problem-solving continues to inform his art-making today.
