Artist Power Center Virtual Launch Party

Join us on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 11:00 AM PST to celebrate the public launch of the Artist Power Center digital web app taking place as a virtual theatrical convening on the platform, Ohyay. Immerse yourself in a communal experience with YBCA’s community of artists, activists, and socially focused investors to offer an online space for resource sharing, collaboration, learning, and connection.

During the 60-minute virtual launch event, audiences will learn more about the Artist Power Center as a marketplace at the intersection of creativity and social justice, and get to experience a fireside chat between social justice graphic designer and former Black Panther Party Revolutionary Artist and Minister for Culture for over 13 years, Emory Douglas and YBCA Chief of Programs, Meklit Hadero, on how art can push movement and change in the digital landscape.

Emory Douglas

Emory Douglas is a social justice graphic designer, best known as a revolutionary artist and minister of culture for the Black Panther Party.

His iconic art and design concepts were a core part of the Black Panther Party, and from there, his art made its way into popular culture, as well as into the hearts and minds across the globe.

He’s had countless exhibitions and articles written about him, and he is a global figure in the movement for racial justice, and human rights.
