    With the use of delicate materials, Lauren DiCioccio creates soft sculptures of objects disappearing from the everyday, for better or worse. Replicas of newspapers, currency, and plastic bags and bottles are formed out of dainty fabrics tediously hand–embroidered with thread.

    San Francisco Perfromances presents The James C. Hormel and Michael P. Nguyen Dance Series featuring Stephen Petronio Company's I Drink the Air Before Me

    Dance doesn't get more physical than I Drink the Air Before Me, the centerpiece of the Stephen Petronio Company's 25th anniversary season (and a West Coast premiere with music written by New York composer Nico Muhly). Inspired by 'the whirling, unpredictable, threatening, thrilling forces of nature' (and a quote from Shakespeare's The Tempest), this piece rages across the stage like a storm twelve dancers strong — a brilliant platform for this pioneering choreographer's 'ability to set dancers in motion at kinetic, lightning–quick speed.'
