San Francisco Perfromances presents The James C. Hormel and Michael P. Nguyen Dance Series featuring Paul Taylor Dance Company
At the age of 80, Paul Taylor is on an artistic roll and SFP is honored to have a long and continuing relationship with the legendary choreographer and his Company, who consider San Francisco a second home. Over the years, this special bond has been marked by numerous West Coast and Bay Area premieres of Taylor's extraordinary works. Now, the Company returns after a year's hiatus with a program of early favorites like Orbs 1 & 2, and the West Coast premiere of the sleek Brief Encounters, about which the New York Times said: 'the dancers, beautifully adult and near naked…passed through transient scenes of sexual desire, emotional perplexity and more.'
Karen Finley—celebrated for exploding taboos around sex, gender, and celebrity while suffering (earning?) right-wing censure—performs excerpts from her newest book, The Reality Shows, and has a conversation YBCA Executive Director, Ken Foster.
