Our presentation last year of the 2009 awards was a smash, so we're thrilled to be back with this all–new program of the 2010 winners. These sly, sexy, sometimes hilarious and sometimes somber British commercials and PSA's have a wild creativity often lacking in our homegrown efforts. Chosen annually by top advertising executives and producers across the globe, the program this year includes a karaoke party for thousands in Trafalgar Square, an unforgettable flash-mob dance medley in the Liverpool Street station, and a herd of sheep outfitted with LED lights… (2010, 80 min, digital)

Curator Statement

The BTAA program obviously investigates the "Encounter" Big Idea, in which we explore artistic engagement with the social context. These commercials are indeed commercial, and are created to directly engage the public. The program keenly illustrates that even a profit-driven art form can be deeply creative and treat an audience like intelligent beings — as opposed to a mindless horde, to be swindled by stupidity.
